My name is Cherry Houston and I was born and raised in New Bern. Actually, I was born at Marine Corps Air Station-Cherry Point as my Dad was a Marine Corps pilot and my Mom a local New Bern girl. Many people ask me if I was named Cherry because of where I was born.  I was named Cherry after my paternal grandmother.

My education goes like this: 

Grades 1-12 - New Bern City Schools

Undergraduate School-East Carolina University in Greenville, NC

Graduate School-East Carolina University in Greenville, NC

I received my NC Real Estate Brokers License in between undergraduate and graduate school in 1981. OK now, no fair trying to figure out a lady’s age. Let’s just say I am a seasoned New Bernian.

 

After Graduate School my husband, Larry, and I moved to the big capital city of Raleigh to make our place in the world. After feeling properly placed we headed back east where both our hearts, and families, have always been.

 

Larry loves New Bern which is perfect because I think it is the greatest place on earth to live. I love the comfortable pace of life, the infectious kindness of the people here, the compassionate nature of the communities, and the proximity to so many different places to visit and vacation. For example, if you want to go to:

Atlantic Beach – 45 minutes,

The Outer Banks – 3 ½ hours of which 2 ¼ hours is by ferry,

 

The State Capital, Raleigh-2 hours

Charlotte-6 hours

 

Blue Ridge Mountains-6 hours

 

There are too many places to mention but these are some of my favorites. North Carolina is just a great state and eastern NC is the BEST!

 

I love real estate. To me there is nothing more satisfying than helping someone find a new home to love, or helping someone sell the home they love in preparation of moving on to their next adventure in Life. I have a big responsibility in each of these situations because the people involved have let me, many times a stranger, into their world of change. My job is to help clients find their dream home or sell their current home in the most stress free, fun, and timely fashion as possible. Professionalism, honesty, ethics and communication are my tools to achieve the desired results in all cases.
